Since fifth grade, Paul Sanders has been playing musical instruments; cello, bass, drums and his favorite; electric guitar. After college, with his guitar, he pursued his dream and got into the heavy metal scene in LA in the mid-80’s with goal of getting signed. Passing out flyers on the Sunset Strip, he got to affiliate who did get signed, like the Bullet Boys, Shark Island and Warrant, to name a few.
Although the dream never materialized, it never took away Paul’s love and passion for big-hair, hard rock, heavy metal music, which he plays every day. Paul also equally loves the New Wave era, when Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls, INXS and Simple Minds were king.
His greatest joy is playing these music styles on-air. His most important goal? To play songs where people say, “Oh my God, I love(d) that song, cool!” No personal cult-favorites; he chooses songs that has universal appeal and are still loved to date.
You can hear these genres during Paul's Saturday morning RedEye’s, alternating between two 80's-era music shows; Rock of Ages (Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Big Hair) and New Wave Nation (Alternative, Post-Punk, New Wave). Check him out!
Although music will always remain a passion, Paul, after pursuing the dream, went back to school and got a Master’s in Counseling Psychology and is currently a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He hopes to have a radio talk show where people call in for help with personal or relationship problems, much like the greats Dr. Laura Schlesinger, Marilyn Kagen or even Dr. Phil.
Paul urrently co-hosts He Said-She Said with fellow broadcaster Harriet Diamond once a month on a Friday at noon. They talk about relationship issues and gender difference between men and women.
