Miriam, a Chicago native, moved west at age 19 to explore the mountains of Yosemite and ended up staying ever since! After earning her Environmental Engineering degree at Humboldt State University and meeting her husband Joe (now married 30 years), they relocated to Nevada City and have been involved in the community ever since. From volunteering with the South Yuba River Citizens League to many school events while raising their daughters, Miriam is thrilled to be a part of the KVMR family of broadcasters to share her endless endorphins of positivity on the radio with the listeners bringing light and joy everywhere and hopes someday to connect volunteers to local non-profits to create positive actions through KVMR’s radio station. She loves all genres of music as long as it’s HAPPY music and hopes to bring smiles to all with her radio name being The Happy Camper!
You can now find her working at Sierra Harvest (as of 2018) leading farm field trips and events alongside the incredible Sierra Harvest volunteers and helping the community eat healthier. But on weekends, it’s outside for her from hiking, cross country skiing, to fly fishing, backpacking plus playing music with friends on her mandolin and flute and baking often. Ask her for her famous pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe – you won’t be disappointed.
