Lisa Cowden Lillie
Long time resident of the Sierra Foothills, Lisa settled into a rural home on 20 acres in Grass Valley in 1982. Graduating from University of California Santa Barbara in Environmental Urban Planning, she headed north in search of a smaller community in her motherland of the Sierra Foothills. She gravitated almost immediately to volunteering at KVMR, then in it's nascent 5th year in the Miners Foundary. By 1984 Lisa was a DJ hosting a show called Saturday Shakedown on Saturdays from 4-7pm (the show was also dubbed The BBQ Hour Show). Then her "real job" got big and she had to step down from her show to devote herself to her job at Ensemble Designs full time.
Working in the TV Broadcast industry and being a founding employee of Ensemble Designs of Nevada City kept her extremely busy as she traveled the world attending industry trade shows for over 25 years.
Lisa is now a resident of Nevada City where she loves the ability to walk into town and hang with the community of great spirits that live here in the foothills. It was around 8 years ago her passion and love of music brought her back into the folds of KVMR where she is now hosting the Wednesday Morning Show from 4-7pm, alternating with Lynn Heintz. She has worked on the live remote broadcasts doing everything from engineering set up to being the on air talent. She is a past board member of Folk Alliance (FAR-West), and indulges her listeners with a wide variety of music; from Progressive/Acid Rock and Jazz, Bluegrass/Classical and deep rooted Southern Rock and Blues to the lesser known singer songwriters of the folk realm. Her morning show being known as the Juice and Java show, will often blend in both music and hot political news topics such as issues on Health Care, Homelessness, and candidates running for office in our 1st District.
You can catch up with Lisa hosting her house concert series in her home known as Raven Rocks House Concerts. Find out more about the series on Facebook, under Raven Rocks House Concerts. Stay tuned!
