Wildflower Walks at Bridgeport

Docent-led wildflower walks at the South Yuba River State Park at Bridgeport begin March 14th and continue Saturdays & Sundays thru May 10th. Walks begin at 10 AM and meet in the North parking lot. Parking fee is $5.oo and suggestion donation $3.oo for the walk . The Buttermilk Bend Trail is an out and back walk , approx. 1.3 miles , mostly level . Recent work is bringing a section of the trail into ADA compliance. Bring water , a hat and plan on a couple of hours walking near the Yuba River. The flower display is usually spectacular.
Docent-led hikes on the Pt. Defiance Trail will be monthly on Thursdays , Mr. 26th , April, 23rd. and May 21st.This is an almost 3 mile loop trail , starting across from the North parking lot . The trail winds up a slope thru Blue Oak woodland. Wildflowers , trees and shrubs are observed along the trail that levels out and follows an old access road above the Middle Fork of the Yuba River to Pt. Defiance and returns along a rocky up and down stretch back to the Historic covered bridge. Rated Moderate ..Bring water , your hat , a snack , and plan on 2 to 3 hours, or forge on at your own pace . Parking $5. and suggested donation $3. The Park is located on Pleasant Valley Rd., about 12 mi. from Grass Valley via Bitney Springs Rd. We are recruiting Wildflower docents !
