Written by Chris Towne on September 30, 2020
This coming Saturday, KVMR will be celebrating its longest running show, Dead Air. Clocking in at 40 years, dead air is a celebration of all things Grateful Dead. It is believed to be the second longest continuous radio show in America featuring music of the celebrated San Francisco band. It was Jon Hill who first had the idea back in 1980. Winfield jumped on the bus not long after. Neither had any idea it would still be chugging along all these years later. To celebrate the occasion KVMR Is hosting a live 4 Hour Membership drive show this coming Saturday night , 8:00 till midnight. All of the current Dead Air hosts will be on hand to play some music, tell some stories, with phone answerers at the ready to take your pledge to support community radio KVMR. In an effort to celebrate a milestone of this size, KVMR has commissioned RL crab to design a special T-shirt. It can be yours as a way of saying thanks for your support of your favorite community radio station. Jon Hill and Winfield were both be in the house to spin a yarn or two. You won’t want to miss it as it’s bound to be a hoot.
