Cass McCombs - Mangy Love

Cass McCombs - Mangy Love - ANTI

Cass McCombs is an American musician, best known for releasing a number of albums since 2002.

Eric R. Danton of Paste Magazine says,

Cass McCombs  is shaking a big bottle full of bitter pills on his latest album, but they’re easy enough to swallow:

So what’s he pessimistic about? Pretty much everything: race relations, gender relations, war, politics, socioeconomic inequality and general cultural malaise.

If there’s a central manifesto on Mangy Love, it’s surely “It.” The slow, stately song echoes mid-’70s Pink Floyd with clangorous guitar arpeggios steeped in reverb, and McCombs offers pointed lyrical epigrams in a David Gilmour-esque murmur: “It is not wealth/ to have more than others,” he sings. “It is not peace/ when others are in pain.”

Angel Olsen - MY WOMAN

Angel Olsen - MY WOMAN - Jagjaguwar

Angel Olsen is an American folk and indie rock singer and guitarist who was raised in St. Louis, Missouri and currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina. She has recorded and toured as a backing singer with Bonnie "Prince" Billy and the Cairo Gang, before embarking on her own career.

Angel’s all grown up with the release of her new album called MY WOMAN. With My Woman, Olsen obliterates that narrow perception, raising the bar on her own multifaceted output and building new aspects of her artistic identity in the process.
