The rich history and depth of emotion found in the blues is what made Keith Andre originally fall in love with this musical genre.
He grew up in Citrus Heights and Nevada City, and earned a bachelor's degree in 1991 from Sacramento State. In 1992 Keith tuned into KVMR for the first time and was instantly hooked on Phil Givant's blues show. Musicians such as Robert Johnson, Charles Brown, Larry Davis, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Little Milton inspired Keith to learn more about both "roots" and modern blues. Eventually Keith began sitting in on KVMR radio shows, where he was able to meet a variety of musicians.
In 1999 he took the Broadcaster's Class and has been on the air since then.
"Being a DJ at the station has opened me up to so much new music and information about the blues," Keith said. "I've met so many great and helpful people here. It truly is one big family."
