I moved to Nevada City in 1967 and was a part of a partnership that opened Scotts Flat Lake Recreation Area to the public in 1968. In 1970 I became involved in the real estate business while still being involved in the recreation area until 1985. I started my real estate career selling lots in Cascade Shores on the south side of the lake & in 1973 built my office on Hwy 20 & opened Recreation Realty, where I still work today.
My first involvement in KVMR was in 1977 when two of my agents from my downtown Nevada City office (which I opened in 1974) were selling a parcel of land on the top of Banner Mountain to David Osborne and Charles Woods, owners of the American Victorian Museum (from which Victorian Museum Radio, KVMR, was born) who wanted to build a tower and create a Nevada City radio station. I was an early supporter & remember Bobby Angel in the shack on the mountain. I joined as a lifetime member in 1984.
My 40 years in real estate and my seven years as a child actor in Hollywood have kept me involved with the public most of my life. I am been an active member of the Nevada City Rotary Club since 1975 and the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce since 1974. I am pleased to serve on the board of KVMR and offer my years of community service toward the goal of finding a permanent home for the station. I have become a part-time broadcaster and have co-hosted several Beatles shows with Michael Young. I love and appreciate this community and especially KVMR.
