Dave Olsen's introduction to KVMR began with his move to Nevada City in September 2005. It was during the time of Hurricane Katrina, and as he was unpacking his household goods with nothing but a portable radio to keep him company, he found KVMR o the dial and heard a DJ ask if anyone had extra cartons, as volunteers were packing a truckload of relief supplies at SPD Market in Nevada City forshipment to New Orleans. Finding that karmic relationship to be the very definition of community radio, he set his FM dial to 89.5, where it remains to this day. Dave spends his Wednesday afternoons minding the front desk at KVMR, where things are never dull, occasionally weird, but always entertaining.
Music has always been a huge part of Dave's life. While in college he sang with the glee club and a performing octet, played bass and sang in a party band, and has continued to perform in the local area, singing with the Sierra Master Chorale. Dave is the host of Good Foot Radio, heard every other Thursday morning from 4 to 7 a.m., and dips into his extensive and eclectic personal stash of CDs (3000+ and counting), which run the gamut from the Austin Loungd Lizards to Zero. In short, you'll never know what you'll hear from Dave, but you'll be entertained, and as Dave says, "It's always about the music."
