Digital Upgrade Project
Over the last two decades, we have witnessed the transition of the recording industry from the technologies of vinyl and magnetic tape to the digital-based compact disks (CDs), digital audiotape (DAT) and downloadable audio files (MP3s). The world of radio broadcasting is also going digital. In fact, the conversion to digital broadcasting (HD Radio) is no longer considered speculative. It is the next step in the evolution of radio broadcasting and its time at KVMR has arrived. We need your help to match our grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to complete KVMR's conversion to HD Radio. Please make a contribution today!
The Sky's the Limit: KVMR's Truckee Translator Project
KVMR is now successfully broadcasting to Truckee and North Tahoe. We welcome anyone who has an interest in KVMR becoming the voice of the Sierra and connecting communities from the state capitol in Sacramento to Donner Summit and beyond, to become a patron of KVMR's The Sky's the Limit: Truckee Translator Project. Please make a generous donation today!
The New Voice of the Sierra: Local and Regional News and Public Affairs
Many of you already know that KVMR now broadcasts its own local, regional and national news from our studios right here in Nevada City, at 6pm Monday through Friday followed by Democracy Now! at 7pm. We are now seeking to develop a focused news segment that covers Truckee and Sierra civic, environmental and economic news to be broadcast regularly on KVMR's evening news magazine. This is especially timely after a bill forming the Sierra Conservancy, a new state agency that will work to ensure the environmental and economic sustainability of the Sierra Nevada, was signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger. If this effort is important to you, please consider making a donation to help KVMR make it a reality.
For more information Please contact Evangeline Elston, KVMR's Development Director at 530-265-9073 x201 or development@kvmr.org or mail a donation to KVMR's Development Department, 401 Spring Street, Nevada City, CA 95959.
KVMR's Wish List
We need some things that just aren't in the budget. Can you help?
Lap top - for the development department to use for events and presentations, projection hardware would be a welcome addition
Two drawer filing cabinet
Five drawer filing cabinet (that doesn't need metal file hanger inserts)
Ergonomic keyboards for PCs
KVMR is grateful for the donation of anything on this list. We ask that you offer to donate only high quality items, in good working condition that look presentable in a professional office environment. Our sincere thanks.
