For a number of years a group of KVMR broadcasters have been working to get more prime time Blues on the air. Informal surveys seemed to say our listeners wanted more Blues, too.

The combination of an open spot on a good day and time, plus overwhelming demand from a formal Listeners Survey told KVMR it was indeed time for more Blues.

The Blues Rotation consists of Executive Producer, Keith Andre, Alice MacAllister, Thom Myers, and Steve Cagle. If there is a fifth Sunday in the month, it will be filled by Haines Ely.

In order of rotation:

Alice MacAllister, long time Music Director at KVMR and well known for her Friday afternoon (2:00 to 4:00PM) Avant Garage programming brings you The Queen Bee Blues Hour. Tune in and listen!

Keith Andre, Executive Producer "My love for this music began in 1991 when I started listening to KVMR and found Phil Givant's Blues Show on Tuesdays, 2-4- p.m. I had been tiring of the rock that I was listening to, and was looking for something new. Phil has such an expert knowledge of the music and the musicians, and his friendships with the musicians made for such a great learning experience for myself."

Interviews Phil did with such greats as Larry Davis, Peppermint Harris, and Little Milton gave Keith a great base to begin digging into the music and learning the historical and contemporary significance of the blues. He goes on to say that, "Phil is truly my mentor and the one I owe the most to in opening me up to this music."

Steve Cagle, longtime Soul, and Rythm & Blues broadcaster is eqally versed in the Blues.
