Dave Olsen's introduction to KVMR began with his move to Nevada City in September 2005. It was during the time of Hurricane Katrina, and as he was unpacking his household goods with nothing but a portable radio to keep him company, he heard a DJ ask if anyone had extra boxes, since there was a desperate need for them at SPD Market in Nevada City where a truckload of relief supplies was being readied for transport to New Orleans. Finding that karmic relationship to be the very definition of community radio, he set his dial to 89.5, where it remains to this day. For the past couple of years, Dave has been volunteering on the front desk at KVMR on Wednesday afternoons, where things are never dull and always enjoyable.

Music has been a huge part of Dave's life. While in college he sang with the glee club and a performing octet, played bass and sang in a party band, and has continued his musical performance in the local area, singing with both the Music in the Mountains Festival Chorus and the Sierra Master Chorale. He has an extensive personal library of CDs, which he dips into regularly during his once to twice monthly appearances on Red Eye Radio (Wednesdays from 12 to 4 a.m.). While his interests run heavily to the Blues, recent programs have included a variety which runs from the Austin Lounge Lizards to Zero. In short, you won't know what to expect when Dave's on the air, but it's always all about the music.
