Angelina Calafiore

Angelina Calafiore comes to KVMR as one of its newest broadcasters. She is an alumnus of the station's 2007 Broadcasters class. In her words, "I really surprised myself-I stepped outside of my comfort zone and found a whole new world. I never expected to love broadcasting so much! I am so proud of our wonderfully diverse family of broadcasters, dedicated staff and legion of local volunteers who all work so tirelessly. KVMR is certainly a jewel in the crown of the Gold Country. This station provides such an important service through its public affairs, wide range of provocative programming and musical variety. I look forward to serving as a public broadcaster for a long time."

Raised in the Gold Country, Angelina moved away for 30 years and recently relocated here in 2003. Her business background is diverse. Before she began her a career as a yoga teacher and inspirational speaker, she was a personal assistant and event/media coordinator for a former White House Official.

Her passions are many and include gourmet cooking, dance, travel, hiking, snow-shoeing, writing, and photography; however, her primary passion is yoga. A certified yoga and meditation instructor, she founded her yoga adventure business in 1999. At the time, Angelina was one of only a few yoga instructors to become featured keynote and session presenters. In addition to facilitating her yoga vacations and speaking at the regional and national levels, she is an author and producer of yoga/meditation CD's and DVD's.

Angelina enjoys an eclectic mix of music and brings rays of light to her Sierra Sunrise show. "I want to provide an easy way to wake up or end the day. My intention for the show is to provide listeners with a wide variety of easy listening music, inspirational quotes, commentaries, and spoken word. I even throw in a few great breakfast recipes from time to time!"

She credits her Sicilian immigrant father for her love of music and movement. "As I was growing up my papa always seemed to be singing or listening to music. He has this beautiful tenor voice. I remember as a child, sitting outside the bathroom door just to listen to him sing in the shower! His penchant for singing and music pervaded our household. Our house was always filled with family members singing as well. No matter what was going on someone was singing somewhere! I thank my father for instilling in me my love of music and the arts."

Angelina hosts the early morning show Sierra Sunrise alternating Tuesdays from 4 AM to 7AM. She is an active member of KVMR's Women's Collective-in rotation for the Women's Show Monday nights from 8 PM to 10 PM.
