Edwin - Substitute Broadcaster
formerly Morning Routes
Music and spoken word to entertain, educate, inspire, uplift, ponder, and amuse.
Edwin

KVMR was one of the first vibrations Edwin felt in Northern California after moving to Sacramento in 1987 from the southern shores of the state. It was only a matter of time before KVMR luminaries Wes Robertson, Barclay Neumann and Peggy Lou Sevdalis lured him into the broadcast booth with his passion for music. He has been producing music programs at KVMR since 1994.

"Music is my medium," says Edwin, in the language of his media hero, Marshall McLuhan. "It's a consciousness expander for me. I am deeply grateful for KVMR for the providing a medium to express my love of music. If the mood of only one listener has changed for the better during one of my shows, I consider my job complete," he likes to say. "I think we find much spirituality in music."

Since retiring after two years from the bi-weekly Morning Routes, Edwin is now on call for his CountrySide series. Nowadays you ll often hear CountrySide Blues on KMVR's Cameo Appearances. He relies on what he call incidental blues, saying, "There s a lot blues out there performed by musicians who otherwise play folk or folk rock music. Their work is not mainstream blues, they re not members of the Blues Society, but blues they do play is great blues."

Edwin seems to be always developing and expanding his formats. With the input of fellow DJ Steve Cagle, producer of KVMR's New Soul Revival, he painted another color on his CountrySide theme with CountrySide Soul. He brings CountrySide Rock with him when he sits in on Wesley Robertson s Rockin' N Stompin'.

For the (Not Just Another) Oldie's show, he brings in Now And Then, a program of mid-sixties to mid-seventies songs, with, now and then, their contemporary covers. For morning shows, Edwin likes to do his Spirituality Hour, songs that convey artists sense of the human condition and personal values.

Born in Tucson, Arizona, Edwin has taught psychology at Community Colleges and currently works as a telecommunications programmer. He is also an avid photographer. He lives in Sacramento with his cat, Catou.
