| The regional music of "French Louisiana" | |||
Dale has been a KVMR broadcaster for over ten years. A "self-adopted" Cajun, taking the name "Le Blanc" -- meaning "the white" guy playing the music of French-speaking Cajuns and Creoles of Southwest Louisiana. He discovered this music in the late 1980's and, since leaving the world of work in 1993, has immersed himself in their music in a major way. Dale frequently travels to South West Louisiana, and elsewhere, to attend Cajun/Zydeco music and cultural festivals. He says "When you think Cajun, Zydeco, Creole and swamp pop music -- do not think of New Orleans, but think Lafayette (Cajun French pronunciation, "Lah - FAH - yeht" ) -- the center of the twenty-three predominately French-speaking parishes of Louisiana." Tune in to "Laissez les Bons Tenps Rouler" -- "Let the Good Times Roll!" You can e-mail Dale at; bayou@kvmr.org |
