The year was 1969. Don Jacobson gave away his television set, moved from Los Angeles to Berkeley, and started listening to the radio. By the mid-1970s, his attention was focused almost

exclusively on non-commercial stations.

When he arrived in Nevada County in 1978, he became one of the first subscribers to KVMR - back in the days when membership went for $8.95 a year. He eventually earned a seat on the Program Committee, and became a broadcaster in 1985. Don's musical preferences run to folk, world, blues, classical, and jazz.
