Raised in the asphalt wilds of a Los Angeles suburb, Brian Higgins has since lived in eight different states and visited forty-one others.

"A proud, but poor, owner of two educational degrees,I keep a

day job as a Landscape Architect/Restoration Ecologist," he says. Brian has also worked as a white water river guide for ten years in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Canada and Ecuador.

Brian feels that "The rivers of this world have taught me everything I have ever needed to know. Oh, and a few folks named Abbey, Reisner, Berry, McKibben, Dillard, Stegner, and Hesse have written some pretty good books."
