Sacramento Firefighters reach agreement on contract

The Sacramento Area Firefighters Union has been in salary negotiations with the City Council for months. Some media sources speculated that the two sides had reached a stalemate, with the City Council warning that unless an agreement was reached soon, up to 68 firefighters would lose their jobs. But in a special session Wednesday, the City Council finally accepted a fourth and final proposal by the firefighters Union. KVMR's Chelsea Davis spoke with Sacramento Area Firefighters representative Chris Harvey about the new agreement.

SYRCL steps in to help out

Over the 4th of July holiday weekend, the South Yuba River Citizen's League's membership and volunteers are pulling together to fill the void left by the budget cuts to the state parks system. KVMR's Paul Emery spoke with Aaron Miller, a member of the League who's coordinating the effort to keep the Yuba River clean this weekend.

Transmission project receives bad news from SMUD

Sacramento Municipal Utility District today announced that it was pulling out of the one and a half billion dollar Powerline Transmission Project that will build a 600 mile transmission line from Lassen County to the Sacramento Valley. Paul Emery talked to TANC spokesperson Brendan Wonnacott about the future of the project
