Last year's inaugural Celtic Festival Youth Arts Program it will return on Friday, September 30 with six workshops scheduled. Workshops include with the Old Blind Dogs, Shelley Phillips, Chris Caswell, Merlin the Magician, A Thousand Years at Sea, and Desmond School of Dance.

The program is intended to give area youth an opportunity to spend time with world-class artists across the genres of music, theater, and dance inspiring them to either get involved with or continue the study of arts in their area of interest.

Workshops are free and open to ages 10-18.

The arts offer meaningful ways to engage children intellectually, emotionally and physically. Research shows that study in the performing arts:

• Increases children’s self-confidence
• Improves learning
• Increases self-discipline and expression
• Promotes tolerance and increases understanding of different cultures
• Instills a sense of joy
