Good Company
Good Company is a quartet from California's North Coast. From rollicking Irish jigs & toe-tapping Scottish reels, to captivating airs and ballads, Good Company's music evokes images of Celtic lands, seas and peoples. The four band members have been together for over 10 years, and perform their original arrangements as singers and multi-instrumentalists on violin, whistle, mandolin, cello, guitar, cittern, accordion, bodhran and much more. This group brings together Ann Marie Woolley, Sam McNeill, Bob Stockwell and Janet Finney-Krull.

Jamming 101 Workshop
Jamming 101 is a fun and entertaining workshop, where players will be guided thru the sings and etiquette of the Celtic "session jam". All ability levels and ages are welcome, and music for popular session tunes is provided. All songs are played at slow easy tempo's, and conducted by Jamming 101 instructor Maureen Park. Come join the Jam!

Maureen "Mo" Park plays violin with the Camellia Symphony Orchestra in Sacramento and accompanies the Sacramento Valley Concert Choir with Piano and Percussion. At Cornell and USC, Maureen earned book money by playing piano and violin at alumni gatherings and Sunday brunches. Between music gigs, she works as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. When she becomes too old to deliver babies, she plans to share music with anyone who is willing and to teach music to anyone who wants to learn.

Four Shillings Short

Going out on a musical limb is common for the group Four Shillings Short. With an ever-increasing array of instruments (over 20 at last count), including hammered dulcimer, mandola & mandolin, tinwhistle & woodwinds, sitar, banjo, percussion and vocals, their music is always varied and captivating. In a single night, Four Shillings Short perform Traditional Irish tunes and airs, Indian Ragas, Folk Ballads, Old-Time songs, Medieval & Renaissance instrumentals and acappella numbers as well as contemporary folk and original compositions.

Valerie Rose
Valerie Rose is a fiddler and singer in the San Francisco Bay Area who presents tunes and songs from the great Irish / Celtic tradition. Hearkening back to the pioneers of the Celtic folk music revival such as Clannad and Altan, Valerie's arrangements of traditional tunes and songs are spiced with rich harmonies and playful interchanges between voice and instruments. Audiences find captivating the pure, haunting quality of her voice and the vibrant intensity of her fiddling. With each piece, she brings to life the transcendent beauty of Celtic melodies and the joyous energy of the tradition's jigs and reels.

White Hackle Pipe Band
The White Hackle Pipe Band was formed in October of 1997 and boasts 39 members on its current roster. The band performs at Scottish Highland games throughout California including Fresno, Modesto, Pleasanton, Monterey, Campbell, Woodland and Dixon. White Hackle Pipe Band has entertained audiences at KVMR’s Celtic Festival for six years and the haunting drone of the pipes continues to add an essential air to festivities. The band is clad in kilts in the Modern California Tartan.

The Ragged Rogues
The Ragged Rogues met at various sessions and joined forces to play at pubs, parties and festivals around the greater Lake Tahoe & Reno area. The members are Bentley Palfreyman (guitar, tenor banjo, mandolin and vocals), Bev Palfreyman (fiddle), Joe Bly (whistles and vocals), Laura Barrett (hammered dulcimer) and Wyatt Troxel (guitar). They play traditional & original Celtic tunes along with a variety of traditional and contemporary songs.

Nine-8ths Irish

Highly- acclaimed Sacramento band Nine-8ths Irish combines the talents of four accomplished musicians to present music that is "Irish and a wee bit more." Formed in 2006, the band is comprised of former California State Fiddling Champion Linda Relph, former Air Force Band trumpet player Bo Bowen on whistles, well-known bluegrass musician Kathy Barwick on guitar, and the amazing Chris Dunlap on bodhrán. Besides stints with numerous bluegrass bands in northern California, the Air Force Band, and several Celtic bands in Texas, members of Nine-8ths Irish have guested with such Irish music greats as Lúnasa, Paddy Keenan and the Wicked Tinkers.

Nine-8ths Irish presents Irish and American tunes, and well-crafted originals, in a tasty blend of styles drawing from bluegrass and country to jazz and big band music.

Myra Lynne Traugot
A lifetime student of folk music, troubadour Myra Lynne Traugot tells the story of Flora MacDonald in music and words. Myra became fascinated with Flora’s life after reading The Scotswoman, a historical novel. Accompanying herself on guitar, Myra explains why Flora saved the life of Bonnie Prince Charles, emigrated to the Colonies and swore an oath to the King of England during the revolution. “Flora lived during an important juncture in history,” explains Myra, “and her story has meaning for us today.”

Nevada County Kitchen Session

Nevada County Kitchen Session: Celtic musicians of all skill and age levels are welcome to join the Nevada County Kitchen Sessions. The Celtic session is hosted by musicians that play twice a month on Sunday evenings at the Holbrooke Hotel in Grass Valley as well as at other pubs and kitchens around town. Regular players include: Izzy Martin (flute/whistle and voice), Greg Taylor (bodhran/whistle), Lisa Stine (harp), Shawn Prescott (flute/ whistle/voice), Kerry Morse (fiddle/ banjo), Don Young (bodhran), Dick Heitzman (flute), Barbara Price (flute), Larry Hill (fiddle), Pamela Hodges (mandolin), Lona Whipple (fiddle), and Guy Prudhomme (guitar).

Sierra Fiddle Circle is a group of fiddlers based in the Grass Valley - Nevada City area interested in sharing tunes of the Scottish and Celtic traditions. They meet every Sunday at Seirra Mountain Coffee Roasters in Grass Valley with a slow jam starting at 9:00AM and open jam beginning at 10:00.
