We have completed our Make A Difference Winter membership drive. We truly cannot thank you member supporters and new members who joined or renewed your during this drive enough. It sounds trite, but it is true. Thanks to the staff and broadcasters who worked so hard and delivered during the drive! And big thanks to you, our listeners, who support us always!
Voice of the Community means just that. We take very seriously our commitment to providing a forum for those in our community who may have little or no voice. Women's issues, homelessness, mental health issues among others are found on KVMR. Divergent views and competing ideas are necessary to the development of a rich and vibrant community in which each of us can make informed decisions. Does this sound familiar? It should, I have included this paragraph in my previous messages.
Recently a friend challenged me by saying that KVMR was not truly the voice of the community as we had no conservative viewpoints and further told me it was our responsibility to seek out conservative voices. Another person told my friend that it was up to him to get what he wanted on the radio. Who's right? Who knows, but it is something to seriously consider.
As your community radio station, KVMR is committed to providing programming not available on commercial media; Mark Cuniberti's Money Matters is a classic example. What do you have to say? Please let us know. We have a Program Committee, a Program Director, a General Manager, a Board of Directors- any and all of whom are here to hear your thoughts and ideas. Let's have a conversation. Help us get what you want on the air. Your voice CAN be heard.
I can be contacted at board@kvmr.org or through the Conant Road link at KVMR.org or by calling KVMR and leaving me a message. As we say in radio land; "stay tuned, there's much more to come." See you on the radio.
